Here's what I'd consider if I were buying a winch..by Steve Dillen Print E-mail

I think a KEY aspect of any winch is to keep up with some basic maintenance and to know the limits of your equipment. Hydraulic, PTO, Electric, Armstrong or Fusion really makes no difference as long as you understand and accept the strengths and weaknesses of whatever equipment you're using.

Here's what I'd consider if I were buying a winch.....

Written by Wes Rempel
Monday, 30 April 2007
The Dick Cepek Mud Country tire is a relatively new tire to the market and probably the first really new Dick Cepek in quite some time. Dick Cepek is now a division of Mickey Thompson, so there are bound to be some sharing between the two and this tire is no exception. The carcass of this tire is new and is shared with the also new Mickey Thompson ATZ and MTZ.

Flare Repair Print E-mail
Written by Wes Rempel

If you have ever damaged any of those expensive extended aftermarket flares, you know it can be a costly repair. Well, I heard about a different way to fix the problem.Nope, no plastic welding here. It was simple, actually. I started by removing the flare from the Jeep. Drilled a pair of holes in it, one on either side of the break and zip tied it together. I did this at strategic points along the breaks and voila. It was back in serviceable condition.

How well this will work on the trail is yet to be determined, but for now, it is holding together nicely.

Fitting 33s on a YJ Print E-mail

Fitting 33s on a YJ may seem like a big task, but it does not need to be. Take my install here A few weeks previous, I installed a 2" body lift, so there are no pics of it going in. As you can see, 33s do just fit with the body lift, but the rub over every bump in the rear. With the installation of TJ flares, in my case 4" Sahara fronts and 6" Bestop rears, the 33s cleared no problem. It was actually only minor cutting to get them on. Trail testing it found that only under hard compression and turning, did the front touch a little bit. It self clearanced quickly, and I had no further rubbing issues from there on. With that set up, I ramped 936 on the 20 degree ramp in May 2004.
