Our Journey to the famed Rubicon trail started early Saturday July 11th after a few months of vehicle prep work and a year of getting ready.

Some last minute, and I mean last minute items were required to be picked up along the way.

such as a tire for me

or tires and skid plates for Paul

Mt Shasta in northern CA

Our last hotel in Georgetown before hitting the trail

Some camp fire and cook stove permits were picked up on route

Had to stop at Uncle Tom's Cabin

After two days of driving, we reached the trail head. Entering from Wentworth Springs

Kind of an empty campground

One of the very few trail markers to be found

Sort of how we expected the trail to be, rocky

Looks like we went in an alternate way, Devil's Post Hole. A fun kind of nasty

At this point we split the group into two. The slow trail dictated smaller groups.

Granite slab section. Only markings were some highway road markers.

Rocks were to be found everywhere

Having armour and knowing how to use it makes the rock negotiation a bit easier.

Some sections were a little tight

Rocky ledges are also alot of fun

Some Soup Bowl action

Looking up Little Sluice

Closing in on the top end of Old Sluice

Buck Island Lake

Happy Tom with a Pitman arm to get him down and hopefully home

Rock Frog

Back on the slabs to go around Buck Island Lake

One of the group who lent Tom the pitman arm

Working our way towards Big Sluice

Start of Big Sluice

Working our way down Big Sluice

Karma

Helping out the group that lent Tom the pitman arm by selling and RE&RE a long side shaft for them.

Crossing the green bridge. Getting close to Rubicon Springs

Heading up Cadillac Hill

Nearing the top of Cadillac Hill

Viewpoint past the top of Cadillac Hill

The second group on our third day. Almost out!

The ladies of our group

So close to being out of the trail!

We made it out!
